MVP is really starting to make TNA worth watching. With Dixie turning the screw on those against her, I started wondering if the script would go anywhere. First was Jeff Hardy, taken out off the ladder by Rockstar Spud as he looked destined to take the World Heavyweight Belt at Dixieland. Dixie ensured that her 'champion' would work for her, and realising that Hardy wouldn't do that, ensured he wouldn't get the chance. Then came AJ Styles, a personal favourite. He fought like a true champion against all the wrestlers who Dixie bullied into coming out to aid Magnus. He fought through them all and was all over Magnus, only for Bobby Roode to attack him from behind, finish him off and allow Magnus to take his belt. Lastly, it was Sting, who, in his 'Belt vs. Contract' match, was similarly treated to Styles, losing as well to end his wrestling career.
But the new investor, MVP, was really needed to make the show interesting again. With his presence, he has levelled the playing field for those against the 'Carter regime'. It started with showing Spud his power by scheduling a match between Magnus and Angle, one which was unfortunately ended by EC3 ending Angle's career.
MVP's second week in the business shows just what TNA needed. First, he turns Dixie's plan, for EC3 to take Gunner's title shot off him, into a high stakes match by adding EC3's own briefcase into the mix. When Magnus intervenes, he is there to change the match into a Tag Match, with "Cowboy" James Storm aiding his partner Gunner. He next is on the Bro-Mans' case. They thought EC3's briefcase wouldn't be cashed in for a while, but now felt threatened by the briefcase changing ownership. MVP annoyed them further by setting Robbie, Jessie and Zema up with a match against the Wolves and a mystery partner, who turned out to be Samoa Joe, a team too powerful for the Tag Champs. With Spud getting too worked up with his mouth, MVP fought him in the ring, showing not only what the investor has in store, but also the limits of the Chief-of-Staff's own power, seen previously against Samoa Joe.
This battle of power has really lifted TNA, making it an intriguing show to watch. The match at Lockdown of Dixie's four man tag team vs. MVP's for full control promises to be a match worth watching. Not only has Dixie lost the control she gained once Hulk Hogan left, but her champion's belt is under serious threat now both Gunner and Samoa Joe has matches for it, and with MVP ensuring that Dixie won't send men into the ring, we may see whether Magnus can actually win a match for himself.
